About McGohan Brabender

Beth Ferrin is the President of McGohan Brabender and has been instrumental in contributing to its growth and success. She has been with MB since 2011, becoming a shareholder in 2014. In 2020, Beth worked with Erick Schmidt to spearhead the company's transition to employee ownership through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Beth’s passion for caring for others is evident in all aspects of her role, whether it’s with clients, the MB team, or the communities MB serves. Outside of MB, Beth is an active member of the Bellbrook community and serves on the Board of Directors at the Gem City Church Collective.

Erick Schmidt serves as the CEO at McGohan Brabender. He has 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry and possesses a wealth of knowledge concerning employee benefits, trends in healthcare, and issues impacting rising healthcare costs. He entered the insurance business after graduating from the University of Cincinnati and has held various positions in sales and marketing with Community Mutual Insurance Company in Cincinnati and in Management with Rush Prudential Health Plans in Chicago, Illinois. Erick joined McGohan Brabender in 2001 and was given the opportunity to become a Shareholder in 2006. He led MB’s expansion into Indiana in 2020 and Kentucky in 2022. He is passionate about MB’s vision of Empowering Businesses with solutions, Empowering People with choices, and working to deliver healthier birthdays by Empowering Healthier Living.

Beth Bailey is the Executive Vice President of Key Accounts at McGohan Brabender. Beth has over 25 years of experience in the employee benefits arena, focused largely on self-funded plans. Beth’s primary role is focused on client retention. Her expertise includes program design, reinsurance, and strategic planning. Beth maintains her own account base, working directly with larger employers on benefit plan design and strategy, emerging trends, contribution, and communication strategies.

Tina Werts has been a member of the MB family since 2000 and is currently the Executive Vice President of Strategic Accounts. She leads a team of employees who manage client strategies within our mid-market segment, including training Account Management teams on all aspects of our services, creating best practices, developing cost-saving strategies, and mentoring individuals to thrive in their careers at MB. She also manages several clients who have been dedicated partners throughout her 23+ years at MB. Tina earned her Business Communication degree at Sinclair Community College and continues to carry her life and Health Insurance license in addition to her Group Voluntary Benefits Specialist Certification. Tina’s passion for people, her servant's heart, and years of experience in this industry make her a great addition to our executive leadership team.

Liz Schneider serves as the Executive Vice President of Emerging Markets for McGohan Brabender, overseeing the 2-50 segment across Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. In Liz’s current capacity, she spearheads strategic initiatives and drives exceptional client experiences for small businesses in the region. With her extensive knowledge of account management, she effectively navigates complex challenges while understanding the evolving trends with employee benefits.

Carolyn Filson is the Client Retention Manager at McGohan Brabender. She joined the company in 2004 with over 10+ years of experience in employee benefits. While working at McGohan Brabender, Carolyn has progressed through several roles, including Account Manager, Director of Account Management, Segment Lead, and recently moving into the newly created Client Retention Manager role in 2022. With more than 25 years of experience in the employee benefits arena, Carolyn is responsible for collaborating across the functional teams within MB to identify opportunities for process improvement. She develops best practices and training that support MB’s long-term strategic plan.

Anne Marie Singleton is the Chief Growth Officer and shareholder at McGohan Brabender. She has been with MB for nearly 18 years and previously received the Dayton Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 in 2004. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in economics from Wright State University, she went on to receive her MBA from the University of Dayton with a concentration in Finance and International Business. She is a committed strategist who works closely with key clients to effectively manage their entire healthcare dollar. Anne Marie has an extensive business-to-business financial consulting background, with over 17 years of corporate banking experience and 18 years of benefits consulting experience. Her passion for leadership and change continues beyond the walls of MB, where she currently sits on the Dayton Chamber Board of Directors. Her commitment to helping people makes her a valuable strategic leader who strives to change how employers and employees experience healthcare today.

David Homan is the Chief Marketing Officer for McGohan Brabender, where he leads a team of creative minds to find simple solutions to complex benefits problems. David and his team create new and innovative ways to motivate, engage and energize our clients and their employees. With over 30 years as a thought leader, David is considered a subject matter expert on employee engagement and communication. Whether operating within the walls of MB or venturing beyond, he remains steadfast in his dedication to implementing technology to help employers reimagine their benefits packages.

Matt Heiny serves as the Executive Vice President of the Indiana Market at McGohan Brabender. His responsibilities include evaluating, analyzing, and developing the client’s comprehensive benefits package. While he focuses on the overall performance of the benefit plans, Matt’s passion follows MB’s brand of “Effectively Managing the Entire Health Care Dollar,” looking deeper into what drives claims costs and identifying areas that can be improved to deliver a healthier population.

Tony Malagari serves as McGohan Brabender’s Executive Vice President of the Cincinnati and Kentucky Markets. He has over 36 years in the benefits sector, with the last 20 being at MB. His responsibilities revolve around direct client work in the strategic development and ongoing analysis of a client’s comprehensive benefits package and overall management of the sales vertical for his two offices. Tony ensures that we meet and exceed all expected deliverables to each client, both within his personal client base and the clients being managed by his offices. When he is not working, Tony is active in the community, participating in several non-profit and charity-based enterprises, as well as his local church.

Kevin Grabeman is the Executive Vice President of the Columbus Market at McGohan Brabender. Kevin’s role is to ensure that the quality, culture, and high level of service MB was built on transfers seamlessly to his associates and clients. Kevin partners with over 70 employers in various market segments, including all types of employee benefits and insurance funding arrangements. One of Kevin’s greatest strengths is his ability to simplify the complex – whether it is a renewal formula or an emerging benefit trend. His high-energy, results-driven approach means he first understands each employer’s unique challenges and then communicates the appropriate strategies, plans, and options. Kevin has a degree in economics from The Ohio State University and has recently graduated from the Leadership Columbus program and ColumbusCEO Future 50.

Kevin Hopf is the Executive Vice President of the Dayton Market at McGohan Brabender. He joined MB in 2007 and has made significant contributions to the company. Kevin spearheads new account development and delivers outstanding service to our clients. His success comes from his commitment to continuous learning, understanding client's needs, and tailoring solutions accordingly. With a bachelor’s degree in finance from The Ohio State University, specializing as a Group Benefits Disability Specialist (GBDS), with licenses in Life, Accident & Health, Kevin consistently goes above and beyond to ensure client satisfaction. He is dedicated to our client’s success, reinforcing his proficiency in benefits management and commitment to exceptional service.

Suzanne Meek is the Vice President of Human Resources at McGohan Brabender, where she provides strategic HR leadership and vision to facilitate the organization's structure and development. With her extensive background in Human Resources management, she is a leader for all training and development functions in workforce planning, compensation and rewards, benefit plan strategy, recruitment, and talent management. She has a proven track record of aligning business strategy with people to improve and drive organizational effectiveness.

As Chairman of McGohan Brabender, Scott works on vision casting, strategy alignment and leadership deployment. He has been with MB since 1988. As a business leader, it is always about people for Scott — always has been and always will be. Scott believes that understanding your core is the essence of transformation. That includes being vulnerable about both your strengths and weaknesses. He believes people need to see leaders make mistakes, own them when they do and teach people through success and failure. Scott believes you cannot threaten, coerce or reward people to care. You can only awaken the desire inside of them and give them the permission and encouragement to do so. Products are delivered by people, and when people believe in themselves they will believe in you.

Ashley Bowman is the Chief Financial Officer for McGohan Brabender. She has been with MB since 2012 in various roles, with the last ten years serving within our Corporate Finance department. Ashley provides strategic leadership for MB’s business and finance functions, as well as management of its financial and capital resources. She is a Certified Public Accountant, where she spent five years in public accounting prior to coming to MB. Outside of MB, Ashley is an active member of the Germantown community and serves as Treasurer of the Valley View Primary & Intermediate PTO.
